Friday "My Town" Shootout--photo study of a building

This week's theme was chosen by the blogger team at Friday "My Town" Shootout--a photo study of a building. Click on the link to head over and see some of the other participants' photos!

I headed over to Dublin's Old St. Raymond's Church that was built circa 1859. I've never done a photo study before, so I just tried to take some interesting shots!

Be sure to click on the photos to see them up close and in detail! (the last one of the church shutters is my favorite!)

As I was heading back home, I saw this construction going on... and then it dawned on me that this was the Kolb House, the historical residence of another of Dublin's founding families what was recently acquired by the city and relocated. The city is expanding our heritage center to include more land as well as the Kolb House and it's surrounding buildings (which have also been moved to this location). The first phase of the newly expanded park should be open in the spring.

It's such an interesting house; I only wish I could have gotten closer!

  1. There are a few that really caught my eye...and yes, the last one of the church definitely did. I think the purple flowers in the shot brought a nice elegance to the shutters :)

  4. The church is beautiful and so obviously well cared for, but the house is remarkable and architecturally unique. I wish you could have gotten closer as well!

  6. I loved the angles you captured around the church. The narrow walkway is an interesting feature. The arts and crafts style of the house caught my eye. This shoot out makes me wish I could experience the interiors. Thanks for posting!=D

  7. Wonderful angles and photos. I think I have to agree with you and choose the last church photo as my favourite, although I really like the one before it too.

  12. I really like the angles that you used for your shots. Each one became a new favorite as I looked at them! I also really like the craftsman style so the second building looks like a beauty, even as it is under construction!
